The back garden of Allah, Reviews
This book, written by Major C.S. Jarvis from World War One to the eve of World War Two, looks at life in the Sinai from the colonial perspective. Jarvis, who helped to administer the Sinai, fills this book with stories accumulated during his many years of service in the desert and anyone who has spent time in the Sinai will recognize the characters as well as the place names. Even though this book is rather outdated it still manages to entertain and I love Roly's illustrations. Even though this drawn from his personal experiences it reads like something written by Wodehouse! I wish I had a copy while I was in the MFO.
