If theres one thing thats had a bad rap its age Few people speak of it as something to look forward to, yet seniors shudder at the thought of being young again Isnt it wonderful how things work out This author admits that once she learned she could sit down without guilt she sat down a lot From her chair she looks back on the day she spoke out of turn in first grade, and on college assignment made a big blunder in church She declined three brilliant job opportunities at twenty, but found her voice years later Now, on her blog, she writes for sharp older people and their middle aged kids and in the last two years she has published two books.Known for her easy flow of words, Mrs Markland has the rare ability to speak lightly yet sincerely about some of lifes deepest and most challenging questions Have we lived before Will we be judged and sent to heaven or hell Will we live again As we clean out our closets can we clean out our minds Is there anyone exactly like you Are you spiritual or are you religious Scattered throughout her writing are insights to help searchers find their path, recognize a desire or purpose in life, and organize themselves to fulfill it It is never too late, she believes, and at 92 she indeed is the good example Her true stories describe a life of learning and a search leading to the understanding that life is a school where we learn and grow as souls with bodies, not bodies with souls....

My Half of the Conversation: A Life with Spirit Reviews
I am fan of this author. Her first book, "Playing Life by Ear", was published when she was 90. I so looked forward to her follow up, which is this book. (She is now 92!!). "My Half of the Conversation" has the same flavor as her first book, but goes a bit deeper. Mrs. Markland offers wit, wisdom, and slice of life's lessons with personal anecdotes, pictures, and original poetry. She discusses human nature, spirituality, and even religion in a wonderful voice that makes the reader stop and think. This is a book you can pick up, put down, and pick up again and be right back in the spirit of it. I would recommend it for Book Club discussions, or as a perfect holiday gift for the person who has everything. Mrs. Markland has a way with words and insight. Her book demonstrates that it is never to late to learn and look at life in a new way. Overall I found this book is a bright light in a turbulent, changing world.
After reading and loving Ms. Markland’s first book, “Playing Life By Ear”, I hoped that another book would soon follow. And here it is. Never have I enjoyed a book as much as the two by Ms. Markland, ever. I am an avid reader and enjoy the written word. This book, as did the other, touches my soul! Beautifully written with wit and humor, does not get lost in the wisdom between the pages. I find myself seeing things through her eyes, and growing because of it. Inspiring and written from her heart. It will surely touch yours.
